News

October 24, 2008
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. today announced that the company's fuel supplement will no longer apply to new Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Cruises bookings made on or after November 10, 2008, anywhere in the world, for sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2010.

RCI Smoking Policy
RCI will enforce their new "smoking policy" onboard 18 of their 21 ship fleet beginning January 2008.  Royal Caribbean is increasing smoke-free zones by designating all staterooms and one lounge on each ship as non-smoking areas. No smoking will be allowed in the staterooms - balcony only.  Legend of the Seas, Rhapsody of the Seas and Splendour of the Seas will implement the policy during the 2008 summer season. According to the information on their website, violations of the smoking policy will result in cleaning charges to the guest's onboard account and may be addressed through the line's Conduct Policy.

Genesis Class Ships
RCI plans to send the Genesis class of ships to Port Everglades in Ft. Lauderdale FL. The first ship, Genesis, is scheduled to launch in 2009.

Sovereign of the Seas
The last scheduled sailing for Royal Caribbean International was October 31, 2007. The ship was reassigned to the company's Pullmantur fleet, and the Los Angeles-based Monarch of the Seas will assume Sovereign of the Seas' sailings out of Port Canaveral. On October 17, 2007, Monarch of the Seas repositioned to Miami after a 16-night Panama Canal cruise. The ship underwent a weeklong dry-dock before welcoming its first Port Canaveral guests for three & four-night Bahamas sailings November 10, 2007.

Royal Caribbean International Fuel Supplement
RCI
which includes: Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruises, and Azamara Cruises, announced this month that they will begin adding a "fuel surcharge" of $5.00 per person to cover rising fuel costs beginning February 1, 2008. Expect that most of the cruise lines will follow suit.

General Information

Activities

Fitness buffs won’t miss a workout thanks to the line’s fitness centers. The gym complexes appear on all ships and include aerobics studios, cardiovascular and weight-training equipment, and dedicated free-weights areas. But that’s just the beginning. Here are some of the other active options cruisers will find on Royal Caribbean ships:

Rock-Climbing Walls Royal Caribbean’s now-signature rock-climbing walls went fleet-wide in 2003. Towering more than three stories high, the walls challenge both beginners and advanced climbers to reach new heights.

Miniature Golf Courses and Golf Simulators Golf enthusiasts can practice their putting on miniature golf courses found on most ships, or drive it home on a virtual version of one of the world’s top championship courses in the golf simulators.

Sports Courts Whether it’s a game of basketball, paddleball or volleyball, the sports courts give guests a chance for a little friendly competition.

Jogging Tracks Circling the deck perimeters, the jogging tracks offer unparalleled views of the sea and sky while guests are working up a sweat.

In-line Skating TracksThe line’s revolutionary Voyager-class ships feature outdoor, curvy courses to test guests’ skating prowess.

Center Ice at Studio B – Guests on Voyager-class ships can try out their triple toe loops on the only skating rinks at sea.

Bungee Trampolines – The next “first at sea,” Royal Caribbean’s Enchantment of the Seas will give guests a birds eye view next summer as they soar skyward on the ship’s new bungee trampolines, being installed in July 2005.

Relaxation

Royal Caribbean Day Spas offer the ultimate in relaxation. The spas include beauty treatment areas; unisex full-service hair salons; manicure, pedicure and facial facilities; separate male and female changing rooms with access to sauna, steam and shower areas; and a full menu of massage treatments. On many ships, couples can try the couples massage or the Rasul room, which uses purifying clays and a private sauna to revitalize the body. The spas also feature a relaxation room for resting between treatments, and the Radiance-class ships feature a luxurious Thermal Suite – a unique spa suite consisting of heated tile loungers, a steam room, a sauna, an aromatherapy room and two tropical and fog showers. Most ships also feature an adults-only Solarium. Either open or covered by a retractable glass domed-roof, the Solariums are beautifully decorated sanctuaries, with pools, whirlpools and full beverage service.

Technology

Technology and innovation are an integral part of Royal Caribbean. The level of communication options available to Royal Caribbean guests will impress even the most tech savvy traveler.

Royal Caribbean online – All Royal Caribbean ships feature computer stations that provide 24-hour access to the Internet, with connections to popular web sites for updates on stocks, sports and entertainment. Guests can check email and send e-postcards with personalized photos. The system currently is available in English, Spanish, German, French, Italian and Portuguese. Printing capabilities are available as well. Internet café access is 50 cents a minute.

Cybercabin – The line’s newest ships also feature Cybercabin, which allows guests to use their personal laptop to connect to the Internet from the comfort of their own stateroom. Cybercabin connections are available at a flat rate of $100 for a seven-night cruise.

Royal Caribbean International is an industry leader in innovative, unexpected onboard activities and amenities, from fleet-wide rock-climbing walls to state-of-the-art fitness centers and spas to dedicated Internet connections in guest staterooms.
