As dancing, dining, and social partners, Ambassador
Hosts serve as liaisons between single female guests and
the onboard social community. Hosts minister solely to
the social needs of these guests and make their
experiences at onboard social functions and on shore
excursions more inclusive and enjoyable. There are
usually 4 to 6 hosts per cruise (more are scheduled for
Big Band cruises). Host Profile:
Crystal Cruises is the only cruise line that
hires its hosts in-house
Distinguished gentlemen at least 48 or older
Sociable, polite, well-dressed, and well-groomed
Possess similar background and interests as
passengers
Usually retired, as hosts are not paid
Host Duties Include:
To dance primarily with single ladies and
inviting single female guests to dance and, with the
consent of their husbands, female guests who want to
dance but whose husbands do not. It is required that
Hosts be competent in the following dances:
Foxtrot Samba
Swing Tango
Waltz Mambo
Rhumba Meringue
Cha-Cha
Participating in group dance classes (offered
every day at sea)
Sharing meals with guests
Mingling at group events, including cocktail
parties, the Singles Party, Crystal Society
functions, and other private parties
Escorting shore excursions/if available and if
they want to.
Hosts are provided with:
- Complimentary room and board on the ship
- Free air transportation to and from the ship
when assigned two or more consecutive cruises
- A shipboard bar, wine, and laundry allowance
Note: Hosts must mingle and not single out
any one particular woman or group. They must not, under
any circumstances, pursue any personal relationships
while serving on board as an Ambassador Host and a
representative of Crystal Cruises.
