HOURS OF OPERATION

Hours of operation vary depending on the itinerary and number of children on board. Activities usually occur between 10:00am and 12 Noon, from 2:00pm to 5:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm. Teen activities will also be offered between 10pm and 12 Midnight. Parents should be aware that our Junior Activities Program is not to be used in lieu of a babysitting service. A Children’s playroom and babysitting services are offered on all cruises. During holiday cruises, summer cruises and selected sailings, comprehensive children’s activities are offered under the supervision of experienced Junior Activities Directors.

Our Junior Activities Program is Three-Tiered:
3-7 year olds           8-12 year olds                   13-17 year olds
Children under six months are not permitted on board without a signed waiver by parent(s). 
 
TOURS
  • Tour of the Galley (kids can decorate their own pastries)
  • Back Stage Tour (see the dressing rooms and costumes)
  • Bridge Tour (depending on security levels and Captain’s permission)
 
FACILITIES
Both ships offer a children’s playroom and main venue for children’s supervised activities - Fantasia
  • Each playroom is equipped with tables and chairs for arts & crafts, popular Sony PlaySation® game titles, X-Box®, a large screen television set and board games

Both ships offer a venue just for teenagers, the Waves teen center, which includes a video arcade.

DINING
  • Children dine with their parents or guardians. There is a Junior Cruiser’s menu and Crystal’s executive chefs and other culinary staff can prepare custom dishes.
  • In addition to food offered in the Crystal Dining Room and in the alternative restaurants, the Trident Grill serves complimentary hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches, cookies, ice cream and frozen yogurt throughout the afternoon.
  • Baby food, high chairs and booster seats available upon request.
ACCOMMODATIONS

Crystal Symphony:

  • 10 connecting staterooms 
  • 89 staterooms with third berth available

Crystal Serenity:

  • 40 connecting staterooms
  • 75 staterooms with third berth available

ADDITIONAL SERVICES

“Surf Runner,” a daily newsletter with details for the following day’s schedule and other pertinent information.

For parents to “get away,” as an additional service, both vessels offer in-stateroom babysitting. Guests should contact the concierge on board for this service at least 24 hours in advance. The fees are: $7.50 per hour for 1 child, $10 per hour for 2 children, $12.50 per hour for 3 children. For safety purposes, the maximum number of children/babies watched by one sitter is three.

Diapers available upon request.

Crystal Cruises is unable to accommodate children less than six months of age and reserves the right to restrict the number of those less than three years of age aboard the ships. Please note that the Casino is off-limits to children under the age of 18, and children are not permitted in front rows of show lounges.  

ACTIVITIES

Activities are determined by age and the number of children on board; therefore, the detailed schedule of events is created at the beginning of each cruise. The following is a list of activities and games your child may experience while on board.
 
  • Winners of games and tournaments are presented with special Crystal Cruises memento prizes, and, all kids will receive special souvenirs of the activities program on board. (Jolly Old St. Nick makes a visit to the ships during Holiday Cruises, and every child on board receives a special individual present.)
 
  • Parents are asked to register their children in the program with the Junior Activities Directors once on board.

KIDS AHOY!

Crystal Cruises' extraordinary commitment to excellence and quality of experience applies to guests of all ages. Space dedicated to children is rare on luxury ships, yet Crystal has designed its ships to accommodate multiple generations. Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity offer spacious staterooms in a range of categories as well as suites and connecting staterooms, child-friendly cuisine, highly acclaimed children's programs on select sailings with activities for children ages 3-17, a Fantasia playroom, and a video arcade for teens. During holiday cruises, summer sailings and other selected itineraries, additional children's activities are offered under the supervision of experienced Junior Activities Directors. For parents longing for some time on their own, all vessels offer in-stateroom babysitting.

Facilities

Many facilities on Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity were designed with young guests in mind. Fantasia has supervised activities, tables and chairs for board games, arts and crafts, giant padded cubes, Sony PlayStation® and Xbox 360® kiosks and large-screen televisions. Teenagers enjoy the Waves video arcade. The Library offers a selection of children's books and videos for in-room viewing; children can also see recently released films in The Hollywood Theatre.

Crystal Cruises offers children a broad choice of organized activities and entertainment options. A daily Surf Runner newsletter provides details on the following day's activity schedule, tailored by age group, available on cruises that typically have many children (summer cruises, shorter itineraries and holiday sailings):

Dining

Crystal's executive chefs and other culinary staff can prepare custom dishes and items comparable to those found on shoreside kids' menus. Baby food, high chairs and booster seats are available on request. In addition to meals in the Crystal Dining Room and specialty restaurants, the Trident Grill & Ice Cream Bar serves complimentary hot dogs, hamburgers, pizza, and sandwiches as well as ice cream, non-fat yogurt and cookies throughout the afternoon.

Babysitting Services

All vessels offer in-stateroom babysitting. Arrangements can easily be made by contacting the concierge at least 24 hours in advance. Fees are $7.50 per hour for one child, $10 per hour for two children and $12.50 per hour for three children. To satisfy safety concerns, the maximum number of children/babies watched by one babysitter is three.

Family Savings

Children 11 and younger pay 50 percent of the minimum fare when accompanied by two full-fare paying adults. Throughout the year, the line occasionally sets special promotions in which children can sail free when sharing a room with two adults.

Accommodations

Crystal Symphony offers ten connecting staterooms and 89 staterooms with a third berth available. On Crystal Serenity, there are 50 connecting staterooms and 134 staterooms with a third berth available.
