Good to know

Livorno never fully recovered from intense bombing in World War II.  Today it's considered a starting point to visit other Tuscan sites.

The Port of Livorno is an hour's drive from Florence.  Many shops will take a midday siesta between 1pm-3:30 pm.  Many major sites are closed on Mondays.

Be aware of your surroundings and your belongings.  Pickpocketing is not unheard of, and neither are Vespa-riding purse-snatchers.
